User's guide

Admission to the Law Library
Please bring your student ID card or staff ID card. We keep it during your library stay.
If you belong to the other universities, please bring the letter of introduction issued by your university's library.
(Except the national universities or the member university of "the provisional agreement about the visiting user inter the member libraries of the Association of Tokai-area University Libraries")
If you don't belong to any universities, please bring your identification paper, which your address is described in and is issued by the official agency (ex. driving licence, health insurance card, alien registration card, passport and so on).
We recommend you to check the material's holding status by OPAC or telephone in advance. (TEL:052-789-2318, 2319)
Walk-in user without the letter of introduction must fill out the application form at the counter.

Location of books and browsing
Books in Law Library are arranged by the call number and placed in the closed bookstacks 1 to 3.
The materials without the call number are placed in Journal's Stack 1 and 2.

The materials in Reading Room, Journal's Stack 1 and 2 are accessible to all users.
The staff fetch the books placed in the closed bookstacks.
Please inform the book's title, call number and book ID.
To the GSL members, the card key to enter the closed bookstacks are loaned.

Borrow the books
Only the Nagoya University members can borrow the books from Law Library.
Loan limit and period differs with the position. →Loan Limit and Period
When you borrow books for the first time, you need to fill out a registration card.
You have to keep the books in your study room (except undergraduate students).

Renewal
The following people are able to renew the loan period up to twice before the due date and only when there is no reservation of other users (You can not renew the books of long-term loan period).

Copyright law should be strictly observed by all library users when making copies of library materials.
You need the copy card to use the copy machine.

Call number of books in this collection starts with T.
Please make an application to use in advance.
After the 3 opening days you filed, you will be available. (example: If you filed on the 24th(Fri.), you will be available from the 29th(Wed.))
Please ask the library staff if you would like to use.
It is not permitted to borrow and make a copy.
Service hours are 9:30-12:00 and 13:00-16:30.

Materials in rare books room
Please make an application to use in advance.
It is not permitted to borrow and make a copy.
Service hours are 9:00-12:00 and 13:00-17:00.
It is displayed as "貴重書室" in the fourth of call number.

Microfilms, microfiches, audio-visual aids, electoric materials
Please make an application to use in advance.
It is not permitted to borrow and make a copy.
Service hours are 9:00-12:00 and 13:00-17:00.

Loose-leaf materials
It is not permitted to borrow.
Please ask the library staff if you would like to copy.

Damaged materials
Please treat carefully.
You would be denied the permission of using or copying for the material protection.

Periodicals

Placement
Japanese periodicals are arranged in the order of the Japanese syllabary first, and then alphabetical order.
Foreign periodicals are arranged after Japanese ones.
Major journals latest issues are shelved in display cases.

Binding information
Every periodical issued in last year will be bound during Summer Vacation.
You cannot access them for 1 month or more during binding process.

How to use other universities' library

Inter-Library Loan service (not a free service)
If you cannot find the item which you are looking for at the Nagoya University Libraries, you can request loans or photocopies from other university libraries.
We accept an application only from the School of Law, GSL and CALE members.
Please confirm whether or not Nagoya University libraries hold the materials you need by OPAC.
Some journals are available electronically on the Web. Please check Nagoya University electronic Journal DataBase.
You can request the Inter-Library Services via the internet. Please refer to the Guide 3 for further information

Long-term loan for summer vacation
For undergraduate students of Law
Checkout date : one week before the first day of summer vacation to September 23.
Due date : October 1 (in case the day is Saturday or Sunday, the next Monday)

Long-term loan for winter vacation
For undergraduate students of Law
Checkout date : one week before the first day of winter vacation to the last opening day of December
Due date : class restart day

Long-term loan for spring vacation
For undergraduate students of Law
Checkout date : one week before the first day of spring vacation to April 6
Due date : April 13 (in case the day is Saturday or Sunday, the next Monday)
*The graduating students have to return until the day of graduation ceremony.
