Guide for NU Members
Entering
- You cannot take your bags with you inside, please put them in a coin-operated locker at the entrance hall of the library. Coin will be returned after you finish using the locker.
Reading
- Any materials are all in the open stacks.
- After using, please return them to where they were.
- If you need to use rare books or microform materials, please ask the library staff at the circulation desk.
Holding Materials
- Location of OPAC is "Education": School of Education Library holds the book.
- The books that described "in laboratory" on "Status" of "Holdings Listing" of OPAC are in laboratory. Ask the librarian to use them. It takes some days to use the materials in laboratory. Some materials might not be able to used.
Borrowing
To borrow books or other materials, please submit your ID/library card to the circulation desk.
- Circulation materials: books, Japanese style books, Schoolbooks
- Non-circulating materials: journals, bulletins, reference books, microform materials, doctoral thesis, rare books

- For NU members, we lend audio-visual materials within 2 items for 1 week (Not renewal).
Returning
- Return materials that you borrowed to the circulation desk within the due date.
- When the library is closed, return them to the book drop outside (located in front of the library).
- Materials that you borrowed from another library, please return them to that library.
Reservation
- Reservation is available for the material on loan. Search it on the OPAC, press the "reserve" button and log in with ID/Password. →[Guide Sheet: Reserve Books That are Currently on Loan]
- When the material is returned, you will be informed via E-mail.
Photocopying
- Copyright law should be strictly observed by all library users when making copies of library materials.
- You need the copy card to use the copy machine.
Copy Order and Loan Order
- If a book or journal you want is not available in Nagoya University (your campus), you can order copy of an article or book from other libraries. Nagoya University Library bears a part of the charge of ILL from April, 2013. For more detail, please see details

- In order to make application, please check our library holdings with OPAC.
How to order
- You can order via OPAC. Please click the "InterLibrary Copy Request" or "InterLibrary Loan Request" on the OPAC top and enter information of a book/journal/article. Please choose the "Central Lib" for "Pickup lib".→[Guide Sheet: Interlibrary Loan/Copy Request]
- Using "NULink" icon displayed on the database search result screen is more convenient.
Visiting Other Libraries
- Members of Nagoya University can use national university libraries and some institute libraries in Tokai area
with ID card of Nagoya University. Other institute libraries may requires a letter of introduction.
- If you need a letter of introduction, ask a librarian at Educational Library.
