Guide for NU Members
Entering
- Materials except for master's thesis are all on the open stacks.
- Eating, drinking, smoking, and talking on cell phones are prohibited in the library.
- Only drinks in containers with closing lids are allowed in the library.
- Do not leave your valuables unattended in your seat.
Reading
- Library materials, except for master's thesis, are located in the open stacks.
- After browsing library materials, please return them to where they were.
- Books are arranged in NDC (Nippon Decimal Classification) order, while journals are arranged alphabetically.
- If you need to use Master's theses, please contact the circulation desk.
* The library only has copies from the past several years.
Holding Materials
- The Library of Health Sciences holds materials that show "Med Health" on the OPAC.
- If the status of the book in the OPAC is "in laboratory", please email us in advance. In some cases, materials may not be available for borrowing due to being used for research、amng other reasons.

Borrowing
Users are required to present their I.D. or their Central Library cards when borrowing library materials.
- Circulation materials: books, audio-visual materials, journals, exercise books
- Non-circulating materials: reference books, newspapers, latest issues of journals, some audiovisual materials, master's thesis.
- When borrowing materials that do not have a material ID, such as unbound journals, please fill in the 'Borrowing form'.

(*):Long-term loans are available during the summer holidays for students in Daiko Campus.
Renewals
- Books can be renewed for borrowing up to two times, as long as they are not reserved next. (except journals, AV Materials and Exercise Books).
- Please complete the process online by the due date or bring the material to the counter. If the due date has passed, the material cannot be renewed.
- From the [My Account] page, you can renew your books.
Returning
- Please return the books to the library counter or to the book drop in front of the library entrance.
- If you return books on days when the library is closed or after the library has closed, please return them to the book drop in front of the library entrance.
- Please do not put materials ordered from other universities or AV materials in the book drop to avoid damage. Please return them to the counter during opening hours.
Reservation
- The material having "checked out" mark on the OPAC is available to make a reservation on the internet. Search it on the OPAC, press the "reserve" button next to the status sign of "borrowing" and log in with THERS account/Password. - We will send you an e-mail as soon as a reservation material is available. Please come to the library to pick up a material as soon as possible.

- Library staff provide guidance about usage and assistance in investigating information or materials. Depending on the content, it may take some time to respond.

- Library staff accept questions about library resources and services via Microsoft Teams.
Only members of Nagoya University can use this service and the language of service is Japanese.

Photocopy
- Within the library, you are permitted to reproduce library materials within the scope allowed by copyright law.
- According to copyright law, the following three conditions must be met:
- For individual research and study purposes.
- Only a part of the published work.
- One copy per person.
- The library photocopier is compatible with the lab copy card.
- If you do not have a copy card and need to make copies, please go to the service desk to check out the material you want to copy, even if you only intend to take it out temporarily.
Copy Order and Loan Order
- Nagoya University Library provides Interlibrary Loans Services (ILL) mainly for student, faculty and staff in the university. If materials you wish to browse are not available at the library you are using in Nagoya University Libraries, you can request ordering actual materials or photocopies from other libraries both on and off campus. Services may differ depending on the user's status, also due to agreements with other libraries.
- Nagoya University Library bears a part of the charge of ILL from April, 2013.
- In the case of a loan order, only the outward postage will be paid by the University.
- Materials borrowed from outside the university can only be used within the Library of Health Sciences.
How to order
- You can order via OPAC. Please click the "InterLibrary Copy Request" or "InterLibrary Loan Request" on top of the OPAC then log in with THERS account/Password. Please choose the "Med Health" for "pick-up library". For details, please refer to Interlibrary Loan or [Guide Sheet: Interlibrary Loan/Copy Request]

- If you cannot order via OPAC, please fill in the form below then take it to the circulation desk at the Library of Health Sciences. The form below is also provided at our counter.

- This room is designed for small group collaborative work, discussions, and conversations related to learning.
- The room may be used freely during non-reserved hours, but please do not close the door.
- The reservation status for the day is posted on the room's door.
- This room cannot be used for entertainment purposes or club activities.

AV Booth
- Usage Guidelines
- You can view audiovisual materials (DVDs, videos, etc.) from the library's collection here.
- Up to two people can use the booth simultaneously.
