Exhibition of Materials from the Nagoya University Medical Museum on the First Floor of the Outpatient Building

Nagoya University Medical Library has installed an exhibition featuring materials from the Nagoya University Medical Museum on the first floor of the Outpatient Building on March 30, 2026.

This exhibition introduces the history of the School of Medicine and the development of medical practice, offering visitors an opportunity to learn about the progress of medicine at Nagoya University.

The first exhibit features the “Kirihara Flexible Gastroscope.”

Shinichi Kirihara, a professor at Nagoya Medical College, improved the flexible gastroscopes developed by Wolf and Schindler and completed this instrument in 1937. Its structure allows the tip to bend manually, enabling detailed intragastric observation and photographic examination. This innovation significantly contributed to the advancement of endoscopic diagnosis in Japan.

We encourage you to view this exhibition along with a visit to the Nagoya University Medical Museum.

*Please note that visits to the Nagoya University Medical Museum require advance booking.
