The Nagoya University Library of Science houses the “Ikeno Bunko”
We are pleased to announce that we have published on our website a list of approximately 5,000 offprints from the “Ikeno Bunko” which we have been cataloging for many years.
In conjunction with this, we are hosting the “Ikeno Bunko Poster Exhibition—From Seiichiro Ikeno’s Bookshelves—” to highlight the appeal and academic value of the Ikeno Bunko.

◇About the Ikeno Bunko

This collection consists of approximately 360 books and about 5,550 offprints (bound into 231 volumes) collected by Dr. Seiichiro Ikeno (1866–1943), a pioneer in plant morphology and experimental genetics.
Dr. Ikeno is known as the researcher who first discovered sperm in cycads and left a significant mark on the development of botany. The Ikeno Bunko was donated to the Department of Biology in April 1942, upon the establishment of the Department of Biology within the Faculty of Science.

〇 Admission is free, and visitors from outside the university are welcome.
〇 This event is a poster exhibition. If you wish to view the actual items from the Ikeno Bunko, please contact the Library of Science in advance.
〇 A selection of items from the Ikeno Bunko will be on display at the University Central Library from Saturday, October 17, to Monday, November 9. We hope you will enjoy this exhibition as well.
